9. As we all know,
the Angel of Darkness unfortunately remained unfinished, were
there many tracks for the game that couldn’t be incorporated
because of this?
There
was one track that wasn't used, although it was included on the
Music Promo CD. It is called "Dance of the Lux Veritatis". It
wasn't used for two reasons, 1) It didn't have a place in the
game and 2) The performance was not up to standard. We had a lot
of music to record in a very short amount of time, so we didn't
get as many re-takes as we wanted.
10. The score for Tomb Raider
Chronicles stands out as being quite unlike any of the other
music that had been created for the previous Tomb Raider games,
was it a conscious decision to vary it so much?
Tomb Raider: Chronicles had a very different feel to the
previous episodes. It was darker, so I tried to reflect the
music accordingly. Although it did take a different musical
direction from previous episodes, there were typical TR type
motifs in places where needed.
11. A lot of the fans
are keen to know whether you played any of the Tomb Raider games
and which your favorite was?
I've played them all, although some more than
others. I've completed 1,2,3 & 5 but never got round to
finishing 4 or Angel of Darkness. 2, 3 and 5 stand out as being
the most enjoyable I've played.
12.
Many fans feel
that the Angel of Darkness was one of the best games in the
series. How did it feel working on such a revolutionary project
with the London Symphony Orchestra?
And how did it feel making music on such an epic scale?
It
was a fantastic experience and one I will never forget. It was a
joy to work with such top musicians. The London Symphony
Orchestra are the best musicians in the world, and I doubt many
other orchestras would've played to the level they did in such a
short amount of time, WITHOUT rehearsing beforehand. It was
literally a case of here's the music for the first time, play it
and they did. Fantastic.
